TWD- Rewind Basic Marbled Loaf

This was last week's TWD, but this week's TWD for Brown Sugar Bundt required too many nuts and dried fruit for my tastes. But check out the list of TWD'ers who did it here.
This basic loaf cake was simple to put together- it only takes a few ingredients and about 15 minutes to get in the oven. I just made the basic chocolate and vanilla, but in the Playing Around section, there are plenty of other suggestions for tasty combinations.

Dorie suggests several marbling techniques, none of which I used because I was being lazy. Hence, mine was more double-decker than marbled.
This loaf was really good- very dense and rich (the slices pictured were WAY too big). I substituted almond extract for the vanilla and loved the combination with the chocolate.
This is a great, quick breakfast or a gift for your neighbors! The Bake More has the recipe here!

  1. Jodie I highly recommend the bundt cake if you ever want to try it. You could definitely just leave out the nuts and put whatever fruit you like in there. But your marbled cake looks wonderful. Thanks for baking along with me this week.

  2. Looks just fine to me.

You can make the bundt sans fruit. The cake is just fine by itself.

  4. I like the layered look! This cake was good wasn't it? You should try the Bundt from this week, just pick different additions. It's really great!
