Karaoke Cake

This cake was for Abbey, the mom of my daughter's pre-school friend. Apparently, Abbey loves Britney Spears and was having a karaoke party. The gorgeous birthday girl loves pink and green. The cake was chocolate with salted caramel buttercream, after her favorite Starbucks drink!

Minnie Mouse Buttercream Ruffle Cake

For my girl, who turned 5 last week. The spunky, crazy and sassy LuLu loves Minnie Mouse. I wanted to try these buttercream ruffles and what better time to experiment than on a cake for our family? There's a tutorial here, but it's really easy. The cake was chocolate, filled with chocolate ganache. The buttercream was just vanilla.
Happy birthday to my sweet pea!

Zhu Zhu Pet Cake

Beansy is my oldest daughter. She turned 6 last week. She's the reason I started making cakes- her 1st birthday cake was the first fondant-covered cake I made. She had a big week- she suddenly started riding a two-wheeled bike, her first piano recital, she lost her first tooth, she turned 6, and it was Christmas. She's a sweetie pie and I'm so grateful for her. For her birthday, she wanted a Zhu Zhu princess castle with Lyric, her favorite ZZP.
For her birthday, we went to the Griffith Observatory on what was one of the clearest days I've seen in Southern California. Amazing day for my amazing girl.

Pinkalicious Cake

Ok, maybe I'm the last mom of daughters on earth who hadn't read this book, but someone asked me to make a Pinkalicious cake so I finally read it. Adorable!!
This cake was for a sweet little 6 year old. The mom really liked this cake, so that was the inspiration. The bottom cake was chocolate and the cupcake was vanilla.

TWD- Tender Shortcakes and Ballerina Cake

Ok, this week's TWD was a little better than last week's. A little.
I don't know what it is, but I'm not a fan of shortbread, shortcakes, etc. "Moist" is not a word I associate with such "desserts," if they may be called that. These little shortcakes were easy to make, they came together in just a few minutes. They are crumbly and weren't bad with lots of berries and whipped cream. Perhaps someone can enlighten me on why, whenever I make something like this, there's some kind of bitterness present? Anyone else have that happen?
Cathy has the recipe (and a great blog)!

Fabulous 40 Cake

So, a little Real Housewives of Orange County, but I like the way it turned out. I love the black, pink and gold colors.
